Kinja'd!!!

So replaced the sprockets and rear tire on the bike this weekend. My new chain should be arriving shortly... Oh, and to round the weekend out, Sabine Schmidt emailed me last night.. She wants to talk beds.... RAWR!

Bike’s chain and sprockets were toast.. completely fish-hooked out.. back tire was bald as hell too.

I wanted to go with a bigger rear sprocket to ‘gear’ the bike a bit lower. When I rebuilt it I transplanted a motor from a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Whereas the original elefant motors were tuned for low-end grunt, the supersport motors cleaved towards high-end speed.

The results were still very, very good- I might have to use the clutch a bit more on slow/technical terrain, but still very usable. But I’d have to be going over 80 mph to use 6th gear without lugging the motor... So I wanted a larger rear sprocket. But I had a spare sprocket that came in the original owner’s box of spares. And due to budgetary concerns I figured that I use it, rather than trying to find a custom sprocket for a 22 year old, out of production, Italian bike...

But I called up the previous owner the other day to talk chain lengths, he mentioned that he had put on a smaller rear sprocket for more top end, (he had the bike set up super-moto style). So the spare sprocket I was planning on using was already two teeth bigger than what I’m used to!! JOY!!

I cannot wait to see how (probably terrifyingly) easy it’s gonna be to loft the front wheel now! (Not that is was difficult before....)

Oh, and I got an email from Sabine Schmidt last night too, she wants to talk beds with me... Oh girl! Let’s do more than talk!!

But disclaimer: I own a murphy bed store here in Colorado, and I don’t think the Sabine we’re all thinking about owns a ski condo here in Colorado... but who knows?!!!!
